The Cricket Kutcheri has been a tradition in the Carnatic Music circles for a long time. It is that time of the year where musicians come together for a day after a hectic December Schedule to cool off and relax. What better way to do it than play the sport everyone loves - Cricket! The Musicians' Cricket match generally happens during January right after the season. The YACM (Youth Association for Classical Music) has been instrumental in conducting it every year. Since last year's match, a number of musician players have eagerly wanted us to arrange a flood lights match. Carnatica instantly approached us to see if we could join hands together this year for the event and we all thought it would be a great idea. Hence, this year the match is being played at the Gopalapuram Cricket Grounds on the 9 th of February starting at 6 PM! Like every year, we have arranged for customized team t-shirts and caps for each of the 4 teams, dinner sponsored by Sri Krishna Sweets, medals and certificates for all the players, and a rolling trophy for the winning team! This is the first year we are bringing out the winners' trophy which will be handed over to the subsequent years' winners by the previous year's winning captain!
We also have the Inspector General of Police (IG) Mr. A. Natarajan who is a cricket enthusiast, inaugurating this year's cricket match. The 4 teams this year will be captained by T.M. Krishna, P. Unnikrishnan, Chitravina N. Ravikiran and Poongulam Subramaniam. First, there will be a group match between the 4 teams and the 2 winners will play the finals! The preliminary matches will be a 14 overs match and the finals will be a 16 overs match. There will also be Man of the Match awards for each match and also a Man of the Series award. Additional awards will be The Best Bowler, The Best Batsman, The Best fielder and The Best All Rounder! The selection panel for these 4 awards will be the spectators. We hope that the Cricket Match is a roaring success this year like every other. There is no ticketing or entrance fee to watch the match live! Do come in large numbers to view this rare spectacle!
